Some rowing enthusiasts are embarking on a 1,500 mile trip to raise money for the Autism Society of America.

The crew hopes to take off Thursday and row about 35 miles a day, spanning from Boca Raton, Florida to Sea Isle City, New Jersey.

The group rowed together in college, and apparently haven’t loss that 20 year old youthful fitness. Thank goodness for them and the Autism Society of America!

They’ve already raised $10,000 for their cause and are aiming for $250,000.

“Anything’s possible, so hopefully,” said James O’Donoghue. “$250,000 is a huge amount of money, but you know, it’s worth a shot.”

Alaskan governor Sarah Palin joined the thousands who converged on the Manhattanville College campus in New York as they prepared for a walk sponsored by the Westchester-Fairfield chapter of Autism Speaks.

Governor Palin didn’t do any actual walking, as organizers feared it would slow down the process, but she was there to give her support and speak on stage, urging everyone to support the Combating Autism Act, passed in 2006, that poured millions of dollars into efforts to combat the illness.

Palin’s sister, Heather Bruce, has an autistic son named Karcher.

Alaska currently doesn’t have any autism walks.

Police believe a man and a woman stole a total of 5 buckets of donations for Angels For Autism. The donation jars were located at Shell Fastlane convenience stores. Some of these organizations who have jars on the counter might want to take a lesson from Starbucks. Many of the coffee shops have containers with the bottoms cut out. So when a would be thief grabs the container and runs-he’s only left with bottomless plastic while the dollar bills and change remain on the counter. [kfdm.com]

Sex sells. Even if it’s for a serious cause like raising money for autism.

That’s why wannabe sex kittens will be heading down to The Fitness Studio in Warrick, Rhode Island tonight to learn some sexy moves at the “Hip To Strip” event.

All proceeds from the fitness class will go towards The New England Center For Children With Autism.

According to the Warwick Beacon, “Hip-to-Strip” takes dance elements and combines them with some basic moves of striptease to create a sexy routine with no nudity involved. The benefits from this workout are many, including gaining confidence, adding spice to your life and having a few good laughs.”

That’s it. Time to call a contractor and install a pole in the basement.
